In October 2022, we had a meeting with a fresh coffee importer named 'Colombian Artisan Coffee,' led by Brian and Diana. They brought samples from family and friends' farms in the Antioquia region of Colombia. This particular coffee is a microlot carefully sourced from five family farms owned by Diana's relatives, including her brothers, sisters, and nephews. These farms are located next to each other in the quaint town of San Roque, near Medellin city in Colombia.

Among the family farms, there is one named Finca La Mariela, which holds a renowned status in the region for producing high-quality Panela (unrefined sugar). The sugarcane is meticulously hand-harvested near the coffee plantations, imparting a sweet acidic flavour to the coffee, making it perfect for espresso. Remarkably, Diana is the youngest among an astonishing 19 siblings and represents the fifth generation of coffee farmers in her family. Her father, Marco Gallego, is widely recognized in San Roque for his exceptional family, their coffee farm, and their sugar mill.

We are thrilled to announce that Stephen, representing Group Work Coffee, has become a valued client and partner of Colombian Artisan Coffee. We have also committed to a yearly purchase of the Gallego Microlot, not only because of its exquisite taste but also due to the profound family history associated with this unique coffee.
