Farm Info

This coffee comes from the Alta Mogiana, on the southern edge of Minas Gerais near São Paulo State, where altitudes climb to 1,300 masl. The Alta Mogiana is a protected Geographic Indication, a mark that identifies coffees from this region by their distinct profile and character.

Cocapil is a cooperative based in Ibiraci, in the heart of the Alta Mogiana. It was founded in 2001 by Laerce Faleiros alongside other local producers, built to better represent the people growing coffee here. Today it counts 1,250 producer members. The cooperative has spent years working its way up the supply chain, beginning to export directly in 2016 and continues to invest in its facilities, expanding warehouse space and milling capacity to store up to 300,000 bags and offer more to its members.

03

Community & Impact

Cocapil runs training programs for its producers around the environment and sustainability, and looks to the future by engaging local schools with tours and education for students. It's also home to a women's producer group, Cerejas do Café — "Cherries of Coffee" — led by Lais Peixoto Costa Faleiros, one of the cooperative's senior traders. Canário is Cocapil's regional blend, built around cup profile and marketed through the cooperative itself.
