Kilimbi Washing Station
Nyamasheke District, Lake Kivu, Rwanda
Kilimbi Washing Station sits on the shores of Lake Kivu in Rwanda's Nyamasheke district, processing coffee from smallholder farmers across the surrounding community. It's owned and operated by Muraho Trading Company founded by two brothers with deep local roots whose mission is to showcase the exceptional quality of Rwandan coffee while creating meaningful, long-term impact for the farmers they work with.
Established in 2016 as Muraho's first station, Kilimbi is now managed by Radjab Mvuyekure and processes around 300-350 metric tonnes each harvest across washed, honey, and natural methods. One of its most distinctive features: some farmers deliver their cherries by boat across Lake Kivu - one of only a handful of stations in the country where this happens.

Along with Rugali CWS, Kilimbi was among the first washing stations in Rwanda to legally produce and export natural and honey processed coffees, helping build the country's reputation beyond traditional washed profiles. That forward-thinking approach, grounded in quality and community, has made it one of Rwanda's most respected stations.
